Game Changer Recognition

We were honored to receive this year’s Encova Insurance Game Changer Award at the Charleston Urban Works Urbanite Awards. After just seven months of bringing our vision to life and uplifting our corner of Elk City, it means so much to feel the love from everyone who walks through The Wine Down’s door.

Grant Recipient from Arts Amplified

The Wine Down is pleased to announce we are a Grant Recipient from Arts Amplified, the creative initiative of the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation. This grant will provide a PA System for the business and monies to pay our musicians. Arts Amplified believes when businesses and artists (and their audiences!) band together, the entire community benefits. Spaces once overlooked come back to life, local shops & restaurants experience a major boost, and diverse groups of people & ideas begin to inspire and build off each other.

That’s okay! We serve Non-Alcoholic Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Golden Beer as well as Clearly Canadian sparkling water.

Holdovers

Enjoy a personal or shareable charcuterie plate with cured meats, a variety of cheeses, crackers, olives, dried fruit, and chocolate. Perfect for keeping you satisfied throughout your experience for just $15.

A Neighborhood Retreat

The Wine Down was created by owners April Watts and Robin Sylvester with a simple vision: a place where the community could truly slow down. They wanted a warm, welcoming spot where friends, neighbors, and newcomers alike could unwind without the noise, crowds, or pace of typical nightlife. What emerged is a cozy retreat — a living-room-style wine bar built for conversation, comfort, and connection.

At its heart, The Wine Down is about the basics done well: good wine, good people, and an atmosphere that feels like home.

Events

Find us on Charleston’s West Side at 114 West Washington Street, Suite 101, right next to H&R Block. Our neighborhood spot is easy to get to and even easier to relax in once you arrive. There are plenty of on-street parking and parking lots convenient to our location.

We’re open Tuesday through Thursday from 4 – 8 PM and Friday and Saturday from 4 – 9 PM, giving you the perfect window to stop by after work, ease into the evening, or enjoy a quiet weekend Wine Down.
